San Francisco’s Palace Hotel has welcomed legendary figures since 1875. The hotel was rebuilt following the 1906 earthquake and reopened in 1909 with its stunning Garden Court interior space, now a designated San Francisco Landmark. In honor of America’s 250th, the property’s lobby-level museum features a display of historic artifacts and photographs detailing the hotel’s past.

Opened in 1927, this Prohibition-era property in Virginia Beach, Virginia, hosted many famous, guests from F. Scott Fitzgerald to John F. Kennedy. The property has been preserved to retain many of its original facets including Jeffersonian-style woodworking and original terrazzo flooring.
