Land’s End
Considered San Fran’s wildest, rockiest corner, Land’s End is a 3.4-mile historical hike that begins at Point Lobos. Along the way, watch the sea lions, take in 30 miles of panoramic coastline views and visit the ruins of the Sutro Baths. Allow one to three hours to complete the adventure.
Golden Gate Bridge
San Francisco’s icon, Golden Gate Bridge is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. Visitors can walk the 1.7-mile span, opened to the public May 28, 1937 for $35 million. A trail to Hendrik Point enhances the walk, affording views of the bridge and San Francisco.
San Francisco Day Walk
San Francisco is an easily navigable city by foot. A 7.1-mile walk through the city is an enjoyable way to spend a day. Begin at Tartine Bakery, wander through Stow Lake, stop for a bite at the restaurants along Irving Street and 9th Avenue, stroll Golden Gate Park and finish your day at Haight-Ashbury.
Chinatown
At 1.2 miles, San Francisco’s Chinatown is the largest outside Asia. Begin at the green-tiled gate at Grant and Bush Streets, and immerse yourself in the neighborhood, walking to shops, restaurants, grocery stores, delis, bakeries, a fortune cookie factory, tea and herbal shops, galleries and more.
Union Square
Built in 1850 and with a history from the Union troops of the Civil War, Union Square is perfect for shopping, theatergoing and people-watching. Spend a half-day along this 1.6-mile square. Don’t forget to head south of Market Street for museums, parks and other sites.
