How to Meet Other People While Traveling

As solo travel picks up pace as a growing travel trend, travelers have become interested in meeting fellow travelers along the way to share stories and tips. Follow these helpful hints to meet like-minded new friends while hopping around the world.

Stay in Hostels/Guest Houses

Hostels are glorified dorms in the sense you can share common spaces with others. Some even have game rooms, bars, and offer group tours which are prime opportunities to mingle with other guests.

Book an Apartment on Airbnb or Couch Surf

Share a space with a local who may be keen to take you out and show you the area. It is also an opportunity to meet your host’s social network and immerse yourself in the culture.

Sign Up For a Guided Tour

Join a group of people who are just as curious about your location as you are! Tours are a great way to meet others whose travel interests match your own.

Start Crawling

Pub crawls are a popular event in most international cities and provide a great sample of the city’s nightlife. Enjoy drink specials at some of the best bars and chat with travelers who may be able to provide great travel tips.
