Thankfully for travelers looking for peaceful getaways, the Global Peace Index presents a list of the safest countries to visit in any given year. Iceland

Iceland came in at No. 1 among the world´s safest countries. The island nation in the North Atlantic Ocean is situated just far enough away to exclude itself from any global conflict.

New Zealand

Switzerland
