Changes Coming to Washington Dulles International Airport

If you keep your eye on the D.C. headlines, you’re probably aware there are some changes coming to Washington Dulles International Airport. So, what can you expect?

Thanks to a $20 billion investment and a partnership between the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, United Airlines and the U.S. Department of Transportation, the airport will look different over the next decade.

The investment will either add or renovate 5 million square feet of airport space. Expect new concourses and a larger and enhanced main terminal. New train service and a more walkable design will make getting around the airport easier.

Other changes include better parking facilities, check-in areas and security screening. New gates will provide greater seating, work areas and amenities. A new U.S. Customs facility adds to the international travel experience. The planned United Polaris lounge will be one of the world’s largest.

Say goodbye to those stale concourses, drab interior, endless walkways and those absurd mobile lounges, and say hello to a state-of-the-art facility that will inspire millions of flyers for generations to come.”
