Lisbon is an affordable European city. However, there are still plenty of restaurants with pricey dishes. Check out these places if you want to experience the best of Lisbon on a budget.
Time Out Market
The popular food hall boasts dozens of vendors serving everything from classic Portuguese cuisine to hamburgers. Prices vary greatly by vendor, but you can find traditional dishes, including cod cakes and steak sandwiches, for less than $10. Buy canned seafood to take home at the popular Conserveira de Lisboa stand, starting at about $2 per can.
Chafariz do Vinho – Enoteca
Located in the chic Bairro Alto neighborhood, this wine bar serves up a selection of wine by the bottle or glass alongside a tapas-style menu. Dishes are mostly in the $6–8 range. A three-course fixed-price menu, including wine, starts at about $26.
Miradouro dos Terraços do Carmo
Located on the terrace of the Carmo Archeaological Museum, this charming open-air bar offers stunning views of the city. It tends to be cheaper to purchase a bottle of wine to share among friends, so order one from the extensive menu. There are options for any price range starting as low as $9.
Confeitaria Nacional
Open since 1829, this charming bakery serves incredible desserts and coffee for a steal. Try a traditional Portuguese pastel de nata (egg custard tart) or any of the other sweets for less than $2 each.
