Last month, New York City’s West Village welcomed a new restaurant and bar with some seriously promising dishes and drinks. Floradora is the newest concept from Cody Pruitt and Jacob Cohen, the team also behind Libertine, Chateau Royale and Capitaine.
The restaurant draws inspiration from the city’s iconic gathering places where great food, drinks and hospitality convalesce. Floradora’s kitchen is helmed by Executive Chef Vanessa Velez, taking the Italian-American history of the West Village and global influences of the city to create nostalgic and craveable dishes with surprising touches.
Highlights include spicy tuna rösti with avocado crema; spicy vodka garganelli with gochujang; oxtail lasagna; 72-hour American wagyu “steak” au poivre; disco fries with caciocavallo, taleggio and au poivre; and an American wagyu cheeseburger.
Got a sweet tooth? Don’t miss the Bananas Foster Split, featuring brûléed and caramelized banana, three scoops of ice cream, chocolate malted milk powder, strawberry graham cracker and brown butter.
Floradora’s beverage program, developed by Pruitt, brings a playful approach to familiar classics, such as the Giardiniera Gibson, Lychee Vesper, June Bug and Floradora. You’ll also find mini- and full-sized martini options, as well as an Old World-focused wine list with every by-the-glass selection at just $22 or less.
Even the ambiance and décor are indicative of the food and drinks within, from wood paneling to Tiffany-style lighting and vintage photography.

A new knowledge and experience center is opening in Andenes, Northern Norway, on June 4, 2027, and it’s entirely dedicated to whales and the oceans they inhabit. In fact, the museum is even shaped like the tail of a whale rising from the ocean’s surface. Instead of fitting into a single museum category, The Whale encompasses many museums in one: art, history and nature.
