One of the scariest things that can happen while traveling is to experience a medical emergency. During a trip, you may find yourself in a locale where you do not speak the native language, or are traveling alone — both of these factors can become a nightmare if you suddenly become ill or injured.
Luckily, there are plenty of great mobile apps that can come to the rescue during this type of scenario.
ICE: In Case of Emergency
This app stores important information for first responders and hospital staff to use in case you are experiencing a medical emergency. With this app, you can create a list of people you would like first responders to call in the event of an emergency (and they can call directly from the app); add your insurance information; list your doctors’ names and phone numbers; and inform responders or medical staff of any allergies, medications you are taking or any medical conditions you may have.
American Red Cross First Aid
The official American Red Cross First Aid app puts the Red Cross’s expert advice for everyday emergencies right in the palm of your hand. This emergency app includes videos, interactive quizzes and simple step-by-step advice for a range of emergencies. Best of all, the pre-loaded content ensures instant access to all safety information at any time, even without reception or an Internet connection.
!Emergency!
As most travelers know, not all countries use 911 to reach police and fire departments and other medical services. This app will detect what country you are currently in, and dial the correct emergency number, in case you should need it while traveling.
