With about 66 percent of Americans identifying as daily coffee drinkers (according to a recent National Coffee Association survey), many U.S. towns and cities strive to meet the demand for good coffee and plenty of coffee drink options.
According to a recent extensive survey and study conducted by Clever Real Estate, these are the best and worst U.S. cities for coffee. This study analyzed the 50 most populated metros in the country, ranking them by several metrics: percentage of local annual income spent on buying a cup of coffee every weekday, average price of a cup of cappuccino, number of coffee shops per 100,000 residents, and Google trends score for five coffee terms (coffee, cappuccino, coffee shop, whole bean and café).

The average coffee price in Baltimore is $4.76, with 22.58 coffee shops per capita. The city is home to 26 coffee shops per 100,000 residents, 15 percent more than the average city’s number of coffee shops per capita (22.6). Boston has the most coffee shops per capita, but Americans think Los Angeles has the best coffee.

Jacksonville, Florida, has the fewest coffee shops per capita, while Virginia Beach has the most expensive coffee in the country. Coffee is $1.87 more expensive on average in Virginia Beach than in Riverside, California. Americans think Birmingham has the worst coffee.
