If you’re a Food Network junkie, you likely spend hours watching Chopped, Cutthroat Kitchen, Beat Bobby Flay and the whole gamut of seasonal shows that run on a Food Network loop. You probably find yourself growing an expansive base of culinary knowledge (which you may or may not ever use in your own kitchen), and now you can critique a rookie contestant’s knife skills and ingredient choices like the best of them. But while you’re eyeing up all that delicious food, why not make a point to visit some of the restaurants started, owned and overseen by the same faces you see on TV? Check out some of the below and start making your own judgments.
Phil & Anne’s Good Time Lounge
Anne Burrell opened this restaurant in Brooklyn last year. The menu is inspired by a combo of both good drinks and good times (hence the name) and is a 50/50 bar and restaurant. Burrell’s friend Phil Casaceli heads up the drinks, while she’s in charge of the kitchen. Dishes include some of the same you can find in Anne’s cookbooks, like the braised chicken with mushrooms and almond puree.
While you’re in New York City, check out one of Bobby Flay’s outposts, Bar Americain, an American brasserie with plenty of southwestern inspiration. With 200 seats, this huge eatery is all class, with private dining available.
Of course, you can’t miss Alex Gurnaschelli’s Butter while in NYC. A quick walk from Time’s Square, Butter serves up traditional steakhouse style with elevated options on a limited menu. The semi-casual atmosphere is comfortable enough for a night on the town, but high brow enough you might just catch a glimpse of your favorite celeb during Fashion Week.
Giada’s not a restaurant queen — she has plenty to do with her multiple Food Network shows and cookbooks. She does, however, have one restaurant located in Vegas. The popular eatery is big, bright and airy, with a hearty helping of all the Italian food you can handle.
Guy Fieri’s Vegas Kitchen & Bar
Casinos often come with a celebrity-inspired restaurant or two, so it makes sense you’d find plenty in Las Vegas. Guy joins Giada with his very different Vegas Kitchen & Bar. As you would expect, the food is straight from “flavor town,” with crazy, far-from-good-for-you options. Fireball-infused wings, anyone?
