Check Out This New Ultra-Stylish Motel in Florida

Fort Lauderdale has a new hidden gem, and you would never believe it used to be a former motel from the 1950s. Set along residential Harbor Drive, Perroquet is a design-led, intimate and unintrusive hotel that will make guests want to come back year after year.

This former motel was restored into a boutique hotel filled with charm and soul. Belgian architect Bernard Dubois reimagined the space through a European lens with a touch of the Mid-Century America mood.

Each space features a palette of off-white, dark green and terracotta, reflecting the feeling of sun-lit leisure and the ease of a country tennis club. Public areas embody a calming setting unfolding under a canopy of palms and surrounded by beautiful gardens.

Perroquet features 37 rooms across nine categories, each offering a residential feel but with elevated, refined details. Each piece of furniture is a custom design from Dubois and features a mix of lacquered wood, chrome and leather, bringing a mix of Miami Art Deco with the provocation of 1980s and 1990s postmodernism. Higher-category rooms offer a separate living area for travelers to unwind without having to get in or on the bed. There is also a top-floor suite featuring the luxurious details of a private residence while still meeting the expectations of the hotel’s philosophy.

The hotel’s living collection of art brings the whole experience together by evoking a sense of place, tone and cultural resonance. Pieces will evolve over time. The hotel currently features pieces by artists like Salvatore Emblema, Giorgio Griffa, Jean Tinguely, Jean Cocteau, Lucio Fontana, Roberto Matta, Alekos Fassianos and Jeff Koons.
