Trends / Food & Drink

Every year brings not only resolutions for getting fit and eating more healthfully, but also the recommendations of an entire team of scientists and nutritional experts for the best ways to keep our bodies from aging. Our relationship to food is changing and we see more and more that knowing where our food comes from and its relationship with our environment is just as important as how it tastes.

There have been many trends that became gradually more mainstream as Americans become more conscious of their eating habits. This year, there is more emphasis than ever on diets that nourish our brains just as much as our bodies. And even though part-time veganism or full-time Paleo and Keto diets are still holding strong, there are always new ways to stay well. Some of the trends predicted in 2018 include an increased emphasis on what the medical community is calling Type 3 Diabetes, or Alzheimer’s Disease, because of its fundamental characteristic of insulin resistance. Luckily, new research is being done, but until then the most valuable food seems to be blueberries. A cup of fresh or frozen blueberries can change your health significantly for the better. It is never too early think about your health down the road.

For more sophisticated trends that have to do with how we perform now look no further than Silicon Valley. Bio hacking and Nootropics were once the dream children of the elite echelons of software companies, but they now trickle down to the rest of us. Expect to see versions of these products or at least similar rhetoric more often this year.
