While destinations weddings in exotic locales seem to get all the hype, there are plenty of places closer to home to host your wedding celebration. Instead of traveling in distance, travel back in time with the antique Pullman train cars at Rod’s Steakhouse in Morristown, N.J.
The Keller family has been in the hospitality business in Morristown since 1936 — their first restaurant was a called Rod’s Ranch House. Now called Rod’s Steak & Seafood Grille, the restaurant draws on its historic roots to provide an upscale dining and event experience. Their Sunday brunch buffet is as legendary as their historic Pullman Cars.
In 1964, the family purchased two turn-of-the-century antique Pullman Cars from storage yards and converted them into dining cars. These Victorian-inspired dining rooms provide a dining experience unlike any other. The cars seat about 50 people each and are popular destinations for parties and celebrations. The train cars are best suited for smaller parties, but the entire restaurant is also available for rental.
While the tight quarters may hinder large wedding celebrations, Rod’s is connected to the spacious Madison Hotel. These two venues make it easy to host a unique wedding experience with an equally impressive menu.
