Zürich’s Christmas markets will welcome merrymakers in the very near future — some as soon as this weekend.

One of the first to open is part of Uetliberg Winter Wonderland, running Nov. 6–Jan. 31. This seasonal event takes place atop Zürich’s local mountain, Uetliberg, where you’ll find a hotel, restaurant and gorgeous views — and around the holidays, you’ll also find a Christmas market (running Nov. 7–Dec. 20, Saturdays and Sundays only), a curling rink, cozy bites and activities ranging from candle dipping to sledging.
Several other markets open up for the season Nov. 19. New for this year is Bellevue Noel at Zürich Opera House. Check out the approximately 100 stalls, the 164-foot-wide Christmas wreath made from Swiss wood and the Sunday candle ritual.

Then, there’s Polarzauber at Zurich Main Station, right in the train station hall. Check out more than 100 market stalls, the Lindt Christmas tree and the fondue express wagon.
Lastly, explore Singing Tree and Christmas Village at Werdmuhleplatz, where the highlight is the Christmas tree-shaped tiered stage, where choirs delight crowds with seasonal song.
