Icelandair has seen heavy growth this year, rolling out a number of route announcements that make it easier for travelers everywhere to reach the land of fire and ice.

Just last month, the airline enjoyed its inaugural flight from Berlin (TXL) to Reykjavik (RKV). The service runs Monday, Friday and Sunday, with connections to and from 20 North American destinations.

“Berlin is our fourth gateway in Germany, and establishes our commitment to strengthen our trans-Atlantic route network by providing passengers with more convenient connections between Europe and North America. Berlin, the capital city of Germany, has a rich history, diverse culture and vibrant nightlife, which we look forward to sharing with our passengers,” said Birkir Holm Gudnason, CEO, Icelandair.

In May, year-round service to Dublin (DUB) commences, as announced last month. The non-stop flight will run six days a week (with no service on Saturdays), leaving Iceland at 7:30 a.m., arriving in Dublin at 9:15 a.m. Return flights depart Dublin at 11:50 a.m., arriving back in Iceland at 1:15 p.m.

“We look forward to offering service to the capital of Ireland, also known as one of the friendliest cities in Europe,” Gudnason said in regard to this particular flight. “Icelanders can trace their Viking history to the shores of Ireland, and we are pleased to reopen that bridge today as friends. Ireland will be a welcome destination for North American travelers wanting to explore castles, culture and have access to the beautiful Irish countryside, with green fields, friendly, English-speaking residents and a rich and exciting history. We look forward to connecting our passengers to this amazing city and welcoming Dublin aboard.”

For U.S. travelers, Icelandair also adds a new route in May, from Dallas (DFW). The flight, via a Boeing 757-200 aircraft, runs four times weekly, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Monday.

Flights depart Dallas at 5 p.m., arriving at 6 a.m. Return flights leave Iceland at 5:15 p.m., arriving back in the States at 8:40 p.m.

Additionally, Icelandair recently released a new pricing structure, Economy Light. The fare rewards passengers who travel with less — particularly those looking to sit in the economy cabin, but that only have carry-on luggage weighing 22 pounds or less.

“This option is designed for travelers taking a short weekend getaway or a quick business trip abroad. The new fare is also perfect when traveling with family members that don´t require additional luggage, such as children or couples who can pack together. These passengers will enjoy the same quality of service from Icelandair including in-flight entertainment, non-alcoholic beverages, gate-to-gate WiFi access and comfortable, spacious seats,” said Guðmundur Óskarsson, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Icelandair.
