In celebration of same-sex marriage equality in Florida, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau launched a Love is Love initiative to marry LGBT and straight couples from around the United States in a historic, collective wedding.
The event takes place Thursday, Feb. 5, in front of the W Fort Lauderdale Hotel. Click here to register and learn more. Reverend Dr. Durrell Watkins, senior minister, Sunshine Cathedral, will preside over the wedding.
After the sunrise wedding, newly married couples will enjoy a post-ceremony reception at W Fort Lauderdale. One lucky couple will win an ultimate cruise wedding getaway. The hotel is offering a Love is Love wedding special to extend the time in Fort Lauderdale.
“Greater Fort Lauderdale has long been a pioneering advocate of the LGBT community in Florida and our ‘Love is Love’ campaign is another example of how we hope to continue to positively impact our resident community and visitors by offering this special day to rejoice as now we all can say ‘I Do’ legally,” said Richard Gray, managing director, LGBT market, Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Greater Fort Lauderdale is one of the most diverse gay capitals in the United States, as well as a destination of choice for LGBT travelers. In addition to hundreds of gay-owned and –operated businesses, the area is home to the highest concentration of same-sex couples in the country.
