Melbourne, Australia, Welcomes Travelers to Its First NFL Game

Next month, Melbourne will welcome NFL fans for the first NFL regular season game ever played in Australia, as the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers go head to head Sept. 11 (though Americans should mark their calendars to catch the game Sept. 10, at 8:35 p.m. EST).

The city expects to host a large number of American fans, and broader efforts on the part of Visit Victoria are being made to entice Americans to the destination. According to Visit Victoria, “the United States accounted for 216,000 visitors in the year ending December 2025, with visitors staying a total of 2.4 million nights and spending $391 million.”

“Hosting Australia’s first-ever NFL game will shine a global spotlight on Melbourne and Victoria.
