Moxy, AC Hotel Downtown Los Angeles Gets Cool New Chef

Moxy and AC Hotel Downtown Los Angeles announced Jason Johnston as new executive chef and director of food and beverage. Johnston brings his experience in luxury hospitality, large-scale culinary venues and award-winning restaurant leadership to the dual-branded downtown Los Angeles property.

 

Johnston will oversee the culinary strategy and new menu development across the hotels’ dining venues, including Moxy’s Bar Moxy and AC’s La Lo La Rooftop and AC Bar & Lounge. During his time at the property, he will help build on culinary and events offerings by creating refreshed menus, unique gatherings and a dynamic dining program highlighting the energy of downtown Los Angeles.

 

Johnston brings more than two decades of culinary leadership to the property. He most recently held the position of executive chef at Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington, D.C. Before that, he served as executive director of food, beverage and culinary at The Watergate Hotel, where he helped the hotel gain recognition for its acclaimed dining and cocktail spots.

 

In addition to his hotel career, Johnston is co-owner of Ballston Local in Arlington, Virginia, a chef-driven spot known for its lively atmosphere and Brooklyn-style pizza.
