It’s no secret the cruise industry took a hit during the COVID-19 pandemic, but a recent study from HundredX predicts cruising is back — and for good. The brand, based on analysis, predicts the cruise industry will sustain a stronger rebound for the long haul, compared to other areas of the travel industry such as hotels, car rentals and airlines. The analysis was based on feedback from more than 35,000 cruisers and data gathered over the last year-plus.

According to the data, cruisers began indicating as early as 2021 that they intended to increase their cruising travel in the future — and one of the potential main drivers keeping travelers interested in cruising? HundredX pointed to the industry’s continual ability to keep prices low enough that travelers found pricing to be a positive part of cruise travel.

However, when shopping for a cruise, the data found price wasn’t the top factor travelers considered; that spot went to a cruise line’s food and beverage program. Price was the second-most important factor, tied with ship cleanliness and available entertainment and activities. Staff and cabin options followed.

HundredX also reports the cruising industry saw record levels of growth over the summer of 2022.
