Provence, France, might be the travel destination most popularly associated with lavender, but don’t overlook Tihany, Hungary. There, on the shores of Lake Balaton (the largest lake in Central Europe), lavender grows thanks to the plant’s introduction by Benedictine monks in the 11^th century, as well as cultivation efforts throughout the 1900s.
