From Dec. 4–5, 2015, Electric Daisy Carnival makes its debut in South America with EDC: Brasil, held at Autódromos de Interlagos, São Paulo’s motor racetrack. The festival’s line-up reveals mainstream electronic music’s shift in sound, diversifying from big room into trance, deep house and techno.
Festival-goers will get to pick from four stages to find the sound they like. The two main venues are kineticCATHEDRAL and kineticGARDEN, the latter of which will cater to EDC’s new taste in the cerebral side of dance music, like Amine Edge, Dubfire and Gorgon City. The festival’s bassPOD will showcase trap, drum & bass and dubstep with Dirtyphonics, Yellow Claw and even dnb legend Dieselboy. There will also be the fan favorite art cars, where line-up DJs frequently pop in to play surprise sets.
Despite its more mature palette, EDC is still most known for the sugary sounds of big room house, with Tïesto, Above & Beyond, Martin Garrix and Krewella headlining the weekend. The line-up also features a performance by KSHMR of The Cataracs, whose credits include Beyoncé, Selena Gomez and Far East Movement. KSHMR initially released his music anonymously before Tiesto introduced him at Ultra Music Festival earlier this year, revealing his identity as the former Cataracs member.
