Railbookers recently revealed 2026 train travel trends, based on early booking data and insights from experts.
Analyzing 2026 booking data across the company’s portfolio of destinations spanning six continents highlights an overall year-over-year increase in rail travel worldwide. The United Kingdom saw a 186 percent increase in interest for 2026. Germany, France, Italy and Switzerland also each saw increases for 2026 rail travel with Croatia, Czech Republic and Hungary not far behind. Italy and Switzerland are also the top single-country honeymoon destinations.

Many travelers will opt for longer trips, with the average trip in 2026 lasting 11 days. Railbookers customers are booking earlier, too. For 2026 travel, many bookings took place 11 months ahead of departure. Other growing trends include multigenerational travel, immersive experiences, adventure tours, and private transfer and skip-the-line options.
