When you’re in Antigua, Guatemala, and you’re in the mood for some great food, great views and live music, head up to the Restaurante Cerro San Cristóbal. Located just on the edge of the town of San Cristóbal El Alto, you’ll find this beautiful hillside restaurant overlooking the colonial town.
A local man named Frank owns the restaurant, and originally the place was just his small, personal getaway from the hustle and bustle of Antigua. Now, the quality of food and ambience brings the hustle and bustle up to him, and with reason. The food consists of fine local Guatemalan cuisine, and an excellent array of drinks. Also, for those of you who prefer something more close to home, the pizzas are delicious.
Once you’ve enjoyed your meal, you can digest it with a nice walk around their permaculture-inspired garden. See the produce they grow on site that you’ve just consumed, and marvel at the wonderful kaleidoscope of colors on display in their prized orchid greenhouse.
The best time to come up to this restaurant is New Year’s Eve, when you’ll be treated to the best seats in the house for the fireworks. With great food, great company and a great location, there’s definitely no comparison to be made.
