HX Expeditions invites guests to travel back in time to 1896, when the brand launched the world’s first expedition cruise. To celebrate its 130th anniversary in 2026, HX brings a meticulously recreated expedition cabin to life.
“The 1896 Cabin is a chance for our guests to not just see history, but to live and sleep in it,” said Gebhard Rainer, CEO, HX Expeditions. “As we celebrate 130 years of pioneering journeys, we wanted to create an experience that is immersive, atmospheric, and meaningful – connecting our guests to our amazing heritage while helping fund the future of exploration and conservation through the HX Foundation.”
Launching Jan. 29 and available throughout 2026, the 1896 cabin will feature handcrafted furnishings and the special touches of a 19th-century expedition cruise exclusively available aboard MS Fridtjof Nansen. The team at leading ship-interior designer AROS Marine meticulously researched 19th-century expedition ships to create the authentic experience.
The experience is offered as an add-on to any voyage, limited to one night per guest per sailing. Pricing starts around $500 (single or double occupancy) and 50 percent of all profits will be donated to HX Foundation.
Availability is extremely limited. Book early to ensure your spot.
