Perhaps, you’ve been on a cruise and loved it, but just don’t have someone to join you for your next one. Perhaps you want to meet someone who feels the same way and has no interest in going on a “singles cruise.” Singles cruises and taking a cruise solo are two different animals.
Five years ago, you would have been called crazy to solo cruise as you’re considered “breakage” to the cruise line and, at minimum, would have been charged 50 percent more to go it alone. And that’s a low estimate as five years ago, few ships had cabins for one and they wanted two people spending money.
Cunard Line, Costa Cruises and Seabourn Cruise Line are really the only cruise lines you should consider going it alone. On the others, at the risk of generalization, no one will understand you.
Go to the “solo” events if you want company. Unlike singles cruises, you’re likely to simply have a nice conversation and can share your notes. Cruise ships are often big places and you could easily miss a venue that provides what you want nightly.
