Why You Should Study Abroad in Prague

If you want to study abroad in Europe, skip London, Paris and Milan and consider a stay in Prague, an overlooked yet beautiful city in the Czech Republic. Here are just a few reasons to spend a semester there.

Money

Europe can get expensive, especially in countries using the euro. Prague has a lower cost of living than most university cities in Western Europe.

Public Transportation

The Czech capital has one of the best public transportation networks in all of Europe. It’s highly accessible, especially in central Prague, and so cheap it’s based on the honor system, requiring passengers to get a stamp once on board.

Food

While the food is also cheap, that doesn’t mean it skimps on the meat. Czech cuisine is known for comfort food, filled with meat, potatoes, cheese and vegetables. The country’s national dish is goulash, served as dumplings, a bowl of soup or even in a bread bowl.

Beer is cheap and plentiful here, thanks to the fact Prague drinks more per capita than anywhere else in the world. It’s so popular, a pint is cheaper than a bottle of water.

Prague is also the perfect place to study if you’re an outdoorsman. The Czech countryside has plenty of parks, mountains, forests and water for adventurous-minded students looking for a weekend outside the city.
