Sydney’s annual pride festival is one of the city’s hottest tickets, drawing hundreds of thousands of people to watch the parade and participate in programsaround the city. This year’s Mardi Gras will take place Feb. 20–March 8.

The annual Fair Day kicks off Sydney’s Mardi Gras in the beautiful Victoria Park with picnics, games and local vendors. The following Mardi Gras Festival features events across Sydney ranging from musical performances and cabarets to sports competitions. Many of the events are family-friendly and there are also informational forums and conferences. Cine-philes should also see the Mardi Gras Film Festival, which showcases the best international and local LGBT cinema.

The festival culminates in a massive pride parade that annually draws thousands of entrants in elaborate costumes and floats representing community and equality. Families are welcome to the parade and fair, but if you want to party some more after the festival, be sure to go to the post-parade Mardi Gras Party held in Moore Park. It is regularly one of the biggest events in the country, with ticket sales reaching 15,000 people.
