For a secluded camping spot that boasts breathtaking views without the crowds, give one of these spots a try.

Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve

Alaskan camping is a bucket list experience, but ditch the most popular spots and see the final frontier away from the rest of the tourists. The Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve only sees a few more than 10,000 visitors per year. There are no roads or trails and it’s the No. 1 least-visited national park in the country. It’s been called “one of the last truly wild places on Earth.” Be prepared for backcountry camping, and you’ll need to arrange for a plane flight into the park ahead of time.

Isle Royale National Park

If you’re not up for a trip to the Alaskan outback, stay a little closer to home and visit one of the least-visited national parks within the contiguous United States — Isle Royale National Park in Michigan. You have to take a ferry to get there, but you can enjoy all the hiking, fishing, boating and more once you step foot on the scenic island. Keep in mind, it’s currently closed for the winter, opening in April.

Point Reyes National Seashore

If you enjoy combining your camping with boating, head to Point Reyes National Seashore, on Tomales Bay, Calif. The boat-in-only beach is filled with beautiful birds and sea lions. If you want to add a little luxury to your trip, you can hire Blue Waters to set up your campsite for you, so you just arrive and enjoy your time away from it all.

French Creek Medicine Bow National Forest

Outside Saratoga, Wyo., you’ll find a difficult-to-reach forest that features beautiful Rocky Mountain scenery. Because of the challenging roads, many larger camping outfits are kept away, so it’s generally tent camping only with minimal traffic.

King Range National Conservation Area

Head down a curvy and slow-going road to reach this conversation area on the coast of Northern California. There’s lots to see, and few people. You can hike all up and down the Mattole River, and out to Punta Gorda Lighthouse for the best scenery. Load up on all your supplies before you go, though — it’s quite a drive to the nearest store.
