TSA Begins Remote Screening Pilot Program

Last month, TSA launched a remote screening pilot program out of Boston Logan International Airport. The program has placed a remote terminal in Framingham, Massachusetts. There, passengers can park, check in for their flights, undergo TSA screening and then take a bus to the actual terminal at Boston Logan.

The option is only available for those flying on JetBlue or Delta routes between 5:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Additionally, tickets for the remote screening must be purchased ahead of time, for $9 at massport.com. Parking at the remote terminal costs $7 per day.

TSA anticipates this new offering will allow for easier travel, as passengers will no longer need to deal with traffic around the airport, limited and expensive parking at the airport and, once inside, congestion at typical security checkpoints.

“This pilot program is all about creating options for our travelers,” said Ha Nguyen McNeill, senior official performing the duties of the acting administrator, TSA. “Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, TSA is constantly looking at new ways we can make the checkpoint experience smoother and faster for passengers, while our security posture remains equally strong.”
