For the first time in its history, the Transportion Security Administration is relaxing rules for certain liquids on flights. The new rules let passengers break the norm and bring larger quantities of hand sanitizer onboard.
According to the TSA’s website, the change is being implemented in order to let passengers bring up to 12 ounces of hand sanitizer on board in carry-on luggage. The larger bottles of liquid need to be screened separately, so passengers with hand sanitizer can expect a longer security clearance time.
Some other changes include letting passengers use recently expired driver’s licenses as appropriate identification. This change allows for passengers unable to update their license during the emergency to travel.
The TSA is transparent about how many agents tested positive for the virus. On the agency’s website, airports of employment, the last days of work and positions are available. Recent travelers should check out the documentation to ensure they did not come into contact with the virus on their travels. Officers in California, Ohio, Georgia and Florida airports have tested positive for the virus.
