If you’ve ever been on a cruise, you’ve probably encountered your fair share of annoying cruisers — but are you likewise annoying your fellow travelers in turn? A recent survey from passport photo service PhotoAiD identified the most annoying cruiser behaviors.
According to those surveyed, the greatest annoyance while cruising is encountering travelers who are behaving rudely or inconsiderately, with specific examples including drunk travelers, arguing travelers or travelers wearing inappropriate clothes in dining areas. Other annoying behaviors include smoking or vaping, cutting lines, being unsanitary (such as coughing without covering one’s mouth), excessive public displays of affection, hogging chairs on the pool deck, not supervising one’s children, and talking loudly.
However, it’s not just other cruisers travelers find bothersome. The cruise line itself can do a lot to irk its passengers. The survey found the single most annoying thing a cruise line can do is charge a high amount for a drink package. Other annoyances included charging too much for onboard essentials like toiletries and hiding mandatory fees like gratuities.
Still, despite all the annoying aspects, the majority of survey respondents still ranked their most recent cruise as “good” or “excellent,” saying they felt “relaxed,” “pleased” and “content” after their sailing.
