Airlines

Don’t want to leave your four-legged friend behind on your next trip, but have hesitations bringing your dog on a plane? It turns out there are some airlines that go above and beyond for pets with rave reviews from customers. Factors like fees, trained staff and in-flight amenities determined which airlines came out on top. So, what airlines are the most dog-friendly in 2024?

Delta Air Lines ranked as the most dog-friendly airline this year with its slightly lower pet fees than any other airlines. Fees are $95 for in cabin to and from the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands; $75 to and from Brazil; and $200 for other international flights.  Customers report friendliness and attention to detail, with Delta having a first-come, first-serve policy.

Other airlines ranking high as dog-friendly are Southwest Airlines, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, United Airlines and JetBlue.

Many airlines have pet size restrictions, so check each airline’s website to know whether your dog must fly under the plane or can fly in the cabin. Alaska Airlines and American Airlines currently allow dogs to fly under the plane.

Airlines that ranked lower include Hawaiian Airlines, Spirit Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Allegiant Air and Sun Country Airlines.

What to Expect if You’ve Never Been to a Buc-ee’s

Buc-ee’s is an institution in many destinations — particularly Texas — around the southern United States, recognizable via its large red and yellow logo sporting a beaver. Don’t make the mistake of just assuming Buc-ee’s is any old gas station, though. Like Wawa and Sheetz in the Northeast and Midwest, Buc-ee’s is so much more. If you’ve never been, here’s what to expect during your first visit.
