San Diego is easily one of America’s most interesting and exciting places to visit. It’s such a huge place that narrowing down a place to stay can seem daunting, so here are a few of the best spots to keep you near the action.
Ocean Beach
If you’re a college student visiting on vacation you’ll want to stay near Ocean Beach. It’s affordable and young and also will give you access to the best parties in town. You’ll have to get used to the smell of weed, though.
Downtown
If you plan on spending a lot of time at the bars, check into a hotel near downtown, practically right on the water. The harbor is full of fun things to do at night and getting around is simple thanks to excellent public transportation.
Coronado
Those looking for a family vacation are probably best suited for Coronado. It’s an upscale area and provides a great, safe place to relax on the beach with the kids and catch some rays. It’s expensive, though, so be prepared to pay.
Pacific Beach
PB is a mix of laid-back party atmosphere with patches of family-friendly sand. There are plenty of opportunities to cut loose without feeling like you’re in the middle of a frat party here, so it’s great for the 25-to-35 crowd.
