You may’ve never heard of it before (unless you’ve researched a trip to Newfoundland in the past), but this Canadian national park is worth your consideration if you’re looking for your next  adventure-focused vacay.

Located on Newfoundland, Gros Morne National Park is a 446,000-acre UNESCO World Heritage site filled with unique landscapes, whether exploring the Tablelands (literally formed from the Earth’s mantle, covered in rock normally existing miles under the ground) or sailing through fjords.

There’s no need to plan all on your own, though. Between June and September, you can attend a week-long tour offered by Gros Morne Adventures. These all-inclusive trips introduce you to the park while weaving in unique cultural experiences. Delve into Indigenous traditions and teachings. Eat food you foraged and cooked over a fire you built yourself. Paddle the ocean in a canoe.

Even if you do go it on your own, you’ll want to be sure you check out a new addition to the park for this year. A Seven Corners storytelling experience brings seven naturally built, open-air installations to favorite spots around the park, where visitors can learn about the local history and identity, particularly that of the seven communities who lived within the park before its conservation.

Need even more of a reason to visit? From June 19 through Sept. 7, the park is admission-free, and camping and accommodations within the park are discounted by 25 percent.
