Under $100 / North America

So nice they named it twice, Walla Walla is a small town in Eastern Washington’s burgeoning wine country. While many of the activities here centers on wine, you can divide your time among a few tasting rooms and other attractions for a well-rounded visit.

Start your day with breakfast at the Maple Counter Café, where comfort food takes a gourmet twist. Expect to spend around $15.

Next, spend some time strolling downtown shops, where you might happen upon a must-have souvenir or vintage item. If you need a snack, the Colville Street Patisserie offers great items for around $5.

Tasting rooms worth visiting include a few downtown as well as several at the region’s many wineries. Among the best are Woodward Canyon Winery & L’Ecole No. 41, Amavi Cellars, Tamarack Cellars and Canoe Ridge. Tasting room fees are generally around $5, so if you visit three, you’re down $15.

Soak up the wine with lunch at La Monarca, a taco truck with regional draw. You can eat here on the cheap, spending only around $10.

Spend the afternoon recreating by golfing, cycling, wildlife viewing or exploring a nearby park. You’ll work up an appetite for dinner, which you’ll have a healthy budget of $55 to spend on a great restaurant like Whitehouse-Crawford located in a former saw mill.
