The No. 1 reason many people don’t get to travel as much as they would like is the expense. Traveling can be much more affordable and obtainable in certain areas, you just need to know where to look.

Antalya is a beautiful resort town in Turkey known for its exquisite Riviera, crystal waters and ancient ruins. The 5-star resorts on the coast are gorgeous, high-end and mostly all-inclusive. The city of Istanbul draws tourists in every year for its beauty and culture and is definitely manageable on a budget.

Most of the city’s attractions are at little to no cost and with affordable food options everywhere, the main expense will be the flight. Hostels in the area can cost $10 a night, or can be upgraded to a private room for still less than any hotel in other cities.

Macedonia is truly an amazing country for anyone on a budget. The city of Ohrid is world renowned for its beauty, which can be seen and experienced through paragliding tours through Skopje, Mavrovo, Ohrid and Prilep. For less intense adventures, there are horseback riding opportunities, scuba diving, sailing, hiking and much more. Hotels are incredibly affordable, at as little as $100 for the week. With so much to do and see all in one place, Macedonia may be a one-stop shop for budget travel.

Many tourist destinations can be overpriced, overcrowded and over done, so mixing it up with a list of destinations less frequently traveled can be fun and affordable.
