Entertainment

Fifteen miles outside of Denver is one of the most breathtaking and unique concert venues in the United States. Red Rocks is not only an amphitheater for some of the best musical acts on the planet, but it is also a national park full of history. Take Route 70 south, and in just 25 minutes, park your vehicle and prep your legs (and lungs) for a seriously strenuous climb.

At the top of the amphitheater steps, your effort will be rewarded with incredible views of the Rocky Mountains and the Mile-High City in the distance. Explore the park’s origins at the exhibit located at the top of the steps, then follow a spiral staircase to an exhibit hall below the amphitheater. Placards, images and maps show how the land was formed millions of years ago during the prehistoric era.

A separate exhibit highlights the musical acts who have performed at Red Rocks in chronological order, from Johnny Cash to Grateful Dead to Blues Traveler. If you’re famished after the oxygen-depleting climb, a café is available with limited operating hours.

In addition to the amphitheater, Red Rocks is home to acres upon acres of natural wonders, including hiking and biking paths, picnic areas and endless miles of mountains and blue skies.
