In Fayetteville, West Virginia, you can now stay in what was once the town’s high school and middle school, thanks to the opening of Hill Hall Hotel. The 40-guestroom boutique property stretches out over the 1923 high school and Mid-Century middle school buildings, retaining some of the original architecture and layout, while updating amenities to meet modern travelers’ needs.

In addition to a range of guestrooms and suites, the property is also home to a restaurant and 24-hour guest pantry. On-site restaurant Patsy’s serves dinner and brunch, with a menu that feels homey yet elevated, and drinks that take local inspiration.
All the while, guests are only a short distance away from New River Gorge National Park.

“Fayetteville has always been more than a gateway to the Gorge, and I hope Hill Hall gives visitors another reason to spend time in town,” said Stephen Wendell, founder and CEO, Mountain Shore Properties, the hotel’s developer. “If someone comes here for the Gorge and ends up staying an extra night, having dinner in town, meeting people who live here or finding a local business they want to come back to, that’s a great outcome for us.
