InterContinental New York Barclay Toasts the 2000s with Its Latest Decades Menu

The early 2000s are making a comeback: Hilary Duff is creating music again, low rise jeans are in style and TRL is about to be back on TV screens. InterContinental New York Barclay hops on the trend with its new The Parlour Through the Decades series at the hotel’s signature restaurant, The Parlour.

The hotel is on its year-long Journey to 100 Centennial celebration, and The Parlour’s rotating menu travels through a different decade of InterContinental New York Barclay’s history each month, highlighting dishes and cocktails trending during that time. The 2000s popularized craft cocktails, so a highlight of the 2000s menu this month includes The Penicillin, a modern classic created in New York City in the mid-2000s. The drink blends Scotch, fresh lemon juice and homemade honey ginger syrup, topped off with a smoky finish from a float of Islay Scotch.

For dinner, enjoy a nostalgic roasted beet salad featuring red and golden beets, Vermont goat cheese, candied walnuts, baby arugula, and sherry vinaigrette. The star of the show is the main course: red wine-braised short ribs, slow-braised with herbs and root vegetables and served with creamy Yukon Gold mashed potatoes.

No meal is complete without a sweet treat. The menu ends with the Barclay Centennial Cake, a triple-layer celebration of white, milk and dark chocolate.
