Banyan Group Unveils Its First-Ever Safari Experience

Banyan Group recently unveiled its first-ever safari experience and it’s one you do not want to miss. Located deep in the heart of Tanzania’s Ruaha National Park,  Ubuyu, a Banyan Tree Escape is an intimate safari retreat, offering travelers rare opportunities to experience one of East Africa’s most untouched wilderness areas.

Drawing inspiration from the region’s natural landscapes, the retreat features details like the flowing curves of the local Great Ruaha River. Each of the six private villas are crafted from locally soured clay and timber, each complete with its own plunge pool and mountain views.

Common spaces include an open-air Living Room and a plant-forward menu at Open Kitchen, blending seasonal ingredients sourced from nearby farms and villages. Traditional dishes include Tanzanian staples like cornmeal porridge served with a creamy coconut bean stew, reimagined alongside sustainably sourced meats from nearby farms.

Each stay is guided by a dedicated Escape Host (part guide, storyteller and partner in adventure), with intimate knowledge of the land, wildlife and surrounding communities. Guests can curate a journey at their own pace, shaped around personal interests and curiosity. Escape Hosts help craft these experiences extending beyond traditional offerings, from walking safaris at first light to cultural exchanges in nearby villages to private riverside dining at dusk.
