The RBS Six Nations rugby championship pit England, France, Italy, Scotland, Ireland and Wales against each other.
Rugby fans from across Europe tune in for the annual championship, which began with France versus Italy in Paris Feb. 6, and continues. Each team plays the others once, and there are opportunities to watch matches in each of the countries involved.
Although the Southern Hemisphere rugby powerhouses South Africa, Australia and New Zealand are not included, the standard of rugby is still incredibly high. It’s sure to be an entertaining championship for both die-hard rugby fans and debutantes, with matches renowned for their friendly atmosphere.
England is favorite with the bookies, followed by Wales and Ireland. Traditional whipping boy Italy is still improving, but remains rank outsiders to take home the trophy.
For travelers, each of the host nations offers some great experiences, although fans of warmer weather might do better to stick to Italy. More adventurous souls might be tempted to take in the rugged beauty of Scotland and Ireland, while the English capital of London captivates visitors whatever the weather.
Tickets are still available to buy from each National Rugby Federation. Even if rugby is not usually your sport of choice, try something new this spring at the RBS Six Nations championship.
