Where To Find The World’s Most Famous Art

If you’re not an “art person,” you may miss out on seeing some of the most famous and appreciated paintings and sculptures during the course of your travels simply because you aren’t even aware you happen to be in the same city. Last Supper

Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper is held in a church and UNESCO World Heritage site in Milan. Tickets for admittance to see the famous painting are less than $10, and you can reserve a 15-minute time slot to view the attraction. Only a few individuals are allowed into the room where the painting is held at one time; however, to make sure the environment retains a stable temperature.

Unbeknownst to some, Edvard Munch’s The Scream is actually four compositions, rather than just one. Each is so similar, though, that, if you’ve never taken an art class, you may never notice the differences. You can find two of these at the National Gallery in Oslo and one at the Munch Museum, also in Oslo.

Possibly the most recognized sculpture in the world, David by Michelangelo is located in Florence at the Accademia Gallery. If you buy your tickets to the popular gallery and museum online, you can skip the lines at the entrance and go right inside. You can also get discounted entry if you’re an EU citizen under 25, or free entry if you’re under 18.

The Starry Night

One of Van Gogh’s most famous pieces, The Starry Night, resides at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. While you may never happen across Milan or Oslo through the normal course of your travel, you’ll more than likely end up in New York. The Museum of Modern Art is a perfect place to spend a free afternoon in the city, where you’ll see much more than Van Gogh.
