Tips / Travel

With the myriad of methods from which to choose when booking a flight, it´s easy to get lost among the websites, reviews and opinions of other travelers in your social circle. Before you take the reins to reserve your next flight, consider the tips below to ensure a seamless and smart booking experience.

Avoid major airports. Some large cities have more than one airport, and the smaller airports often feature flights for a lower fare. For example, London´s Heathrow Airport is much more well known than London´s Gatwick Airport, but the latter boasts cheaper flights with low-cost airlines that get you to your destination just as efficiently.

Avoid buying tickets on high-price days. Research has shown there are certain days of the week when airfare prices are statistically lower than other days of the week. Keep an eye on prices for a week or two, and pay attention to when they dip, most likely on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Consider multiple web sources as well, and monitor the prices to see if there is any fluctuation.

Avoid flying during the weekend or book-end days. Flying in the middle of the week is typically cheaper and there are more options available. Forego the weekend warrior routine: Book a long weekend and return on Saturday or Sunday, instead, for a full day of rest before going back to the daily grind.
