Diamond Head

The 0.8-mile hike from the trailhead to the summit of one of Hawaii’s most recognizable icons, the 760-foot extinct volcanic peak of Diamond Head, provides spectacular panoramic views of the island as well as outlines of the neighboring islands of Maui and Molokai on a clear day.

Koko Head

One of the most popular landmarks on the island’s south shore, the steep hike to the summit of Koko Head Crater rewards visitors who climb 1,048 stairs to the top with incredible views of the postcard-perfect Hanauma Bay. The Stairmaster-esque hike is approximately 1.5 miles round-trip and rated a moderate to intermediate level of difficulty.

Manoa Falls

One of the most popular hikes in the Honolulu area, the short hike to the majestic Manoa Falls takes hikers through easy, well-maintained terrain and breathtaking movie scene locations from Jurassic Park and Lost. The hike to Hawaii’s most easily accessible waterfall takes about a half-hour and is filled with verdant rainforests and unique species.

Aiea Loop Trail

The 4.8-mile Aiea Loop Trail is an excellent trail for beginners and history buffs, featuring a variety of historic sites, including wreckage from a World War II bomber, as well as excellent views of the southern coastline of the island from Pearl Harbor.

Kamananui Valley Road

The leisurely Kamananui Valley Road trail stretches for two miles along an old carriage road that features fascinating archaeological sites, including a spot with ancient stone petroglyphs, and beautiful arched stone bridges that pass over the calming Moanalua Stream.
