Cape Cod-bound canines are welcome at Chatham Bars Inn, a full-service resort nestled on a quarter-mile private beach a short stroll from the historic and picturesque village of Chatham on Cape Cod.
The resort opened its doggy doors for the first time with the addition of a new pet program this year. Guests traveling with man’s best friend in tow can enjoy a comfortable stay for both themselves and their pups with an array of Fido-friendly amenities, as well as designated dog-friendly sites throughout the grounds of the property.
Four-legged guests are treated to a welcome mat, dog bed, food and water bowls and a Pet in Residence sign for the guestroom door. A special welcome package includes a menu of canine cuisine and information on local dog-friendly beaches, walking trails and kennels.
A property map with paw prints shows guests where dog-friendly areas are available on the groups, including the Cape Rose Cottage, Lilac House, South Lawn and Gazebo. Each of the areas offer plastic gloves and bags to simplify waste removal.
Though the private beach at Chatham Bars Inn is not open to dogs, the areas include several nearby beaches where pets can enjoy the sun and sand during the off-season, including Cockle Cove, Forest, Harding, Jackknife Harbor, Oyster Pond, Pleasant Street, Ridgevale, Lighthouse and South (Nauset) Beach.
The resort charges guests with dogs an initial fee of $100, plus $40 per additional night from mid-June through Labor Day. During the off-season, the charge is $40 per night.
