Pets are an important part of our lives. People enjoy having their dogs or cats by their side so much they pack them up and takes them on a road trip, a bike ride or on a flight. It’s fun to travel with pets, but sometimes it isn’t as much fun for them. Although an occasional car trip is pretty exciting (usually for dogs), longer excursions require extra comfort and care for your pet. Here are 10 products that can make a pet on the go feel right at home.

A Fabric Crate, ($41.99 to $65.99)

It can be difficult to figure out how to transport a dog or cat in the car. You want them to be secure, but a plastic crate isn’t always comfortable or convenient when you have many items to put in the car. A fabric crate with a zip enclosure is easier for you and your pet, and the polka-dot pattern on this crate will give you a bonus reason to smile.

A Backpack (For Your Dog), ($46.74 to $50.99)

If you love to take your dog along for hikes, stash some extra supplies in a trail pack your dog can wear. A collapsible water bowl, some treats and a small towel would be great items your hiking buddy can carry.

A Personalized Travel Tote, Small Bags and Water Dish, ($75)

Pets require a lot of stuff to be brought along on trips. Food, treats, toys and several other items go where your pet goes. A handy (and adorable!) way to bring along everything is a tote, bags for food and treats and a water bowl customized with your pet’s name. You can even request a custom silhouette to be made of your pet.

A Packable Kitty Bed, ($45)

Cats are not known to be the best travelers. For most cats, being away from home can be nerve-wracking. That’s why it’s good to bring along something that can soothe your cat, like a soft, cocoon-like bed. Fold it up into a suitcase or include it in your cat’s crate so he/she can have a place to feel warm and safe.

A Cute Pet Carrier, ($59.99)

Carrying a small dog or cat in a carrier with a strap can be helpful, especially if you’re making your way through an airport. Your animal pal might not even know she’s on the move as she sleeps soundly in the carrier. This plaid Woolrich carrier is both functional and stylish.

A Bike Basket, ($50.91)

Bike baskets for pets have come a long way since the days of Toto and Dorothy. You can bring your small dog along for your bike rides and he/she can accompany you in comfort. The basket is shaded and has a soft cover, so he/she certainly won’t be ruffing it.

A Crate Mat, ($49.95)

Soften your dog or cat’s surroundings in a crate with a cushioned mat. When you’ve reached your destination, the mat can be easily rolled up, and the anchor print adds a touch of fun.

A Car Seat, ($77.99)

A car seat isn’t reserved for just babies and toddlers. Dogs can benefit from a car seat of their own. It’s the perfect place to snooze and it’s even elevated so your dog can look out the window, which is pretty much the best thing ever for a dog.

A Sling Carrier, ($118)

And speaking of babies, yes, they now make fabric slings to carry your small dog in. Bring your pooch along and wear the sling as you walk around a farmers’ market or while you’re waiting at the airport.

A Bottle of Aromatherapy Spray, ($14.39)

If all else fails, a spritz of a calming aromatherapy spray can help your dog or cat mellow out during a trip. In those stressful travel moments, you just might be tempted to borrow it from your furry friend.
