Kalahari Resorts Opens Massive Expansion, Industry First in Wisconsin

Earlier this month, Kalahari Resorts & Conventions opened a 75,000-square-foot, $85 million expansion in Wisconsin. The new Aquadome expansion is part of the brand’s Wisconsin Dells flagship resort.

Notable features for the expansion include the world’s first enclosed Boomerango, a six-person raft ride; the first six-person indoor water coaster in North America; and an industry-first type of retractable roof. The Aquadome also includes a 10,000-square-foot, zero-depth entry pool, with a 40-foot screen; an adults-only area; additional waterslides; and a children’s complex.

“The Aquadome is built for how our guests actually spend a day with us — one space that keeps the fun going no matter what the weather does, slides for every age and thrill level and a pool made for slowing down once everyone’s ready to relax,” said Travis Nelson, president, Kalahari Resorts & Conventions. “We’ve watched this property grow for 26 years, and this expansion is our biggest step yet in proving Wisconsin Dells is the year-round aquatic destination.”

This latest expansion is part of broader changes at the resort, which also have included the addition of more than 200 guestrooms; new dining; and renovations throughout public spaces, including the spa and lobby.
