Austrian Airlines officially has a new signature beer! Often called the “Liquid Gold of Salzburg,” Stiegl-Goldbräu is a perfectly chilled lager now available in all travel classes on long-haul Austrian Airlines flights, as well as on short-haul flights in business class.

In addition to its beloved taste (a full-bodied, malty beer, that is), the 0.33-liter beer can also features a specially designed Austrian Airlines motif with an eye-catching red hue.

“We are delighted that Austrian Airlines is taking off with Stiegl-Goldbräu onboard. Travelers can now be bid farewell or welcomed with a taste of Salzburg’s beer culture. All that remains for us to say is: Cheers above the clouds!” said Christian Pöpperl, master brewer, Stiegl.

Stiegl-Goldbräu has been brewed in Salzburg by historic Stieglbrauerei zu Salzburg, Austria’s largest independent private brewery, since 1492. The brand boasts the “Slow Brewing” seal for traditional and gentle maturation. The beer especially goes well with classic Austrian fare like roast pork, soft pretzels with mustard, mild cheeses, Wiener Schnitzel and grilled bratwurst.

And if you’re inspired enough by the beer, be sure to visit the brewery’s large museum of beer and beer making on the outskirts of Salzburg. Your tour will end with a visit to a bar for a beer on the house!
