A Portable Jumpstart in the Versapower

Jumping a car is a hassle, especially in the dead of winter or when you’re stranded on a road trip. Lately, there have been a several companies developing gadgets that provide a jumpstart in the form of a portable battery unit. One such company is Matco, with their Versapower Micro Power Source.

Matco Tools packed 12,000 milliamps into a 14-ounce battery pack, capable of jumpstarting most domestic and foreign cars, ranging from small sedans to light trucks, in addition to recreational vehicles, boats, motorcycles and ATVs, making this a great accessory for outdoor enthusiasts. Thanks to their research into lithium battery technology, Matco says the Versapower is capable of jumpstarting a Ford F-150 V8 up to 18 times before requiring a recharge.

It runs at 350 cranking amps and 900 peak amps, and there are four types of charging modes: 5V 2A, 5V 1A, 19V 3.5A, 12V 10A. An LED indicator informs users on the battery life, while the patent-pending Inteli-Clamp technology performs real-time current monitoring and timed cranking control. In addition to jumper cables, the Versapower can charge devices through a USB cable and AC/DC charger. The gadget even comes with a flashlight for roadside emergencies at night.
