Reviews / Airline

Alaska Airlines managed to do what few other domestic U.S. airlines have: offer great experiences aboard airplanes and fly without public relations disasters.

Alaska Airlines consistently ranks as a customer favorite, and is often regarded as the best airline in the country. It’s no surprise. The airline has great on-time rankings and adds small touches to up the customer service ante. Once, a minor mechanical issue led to a 15-minute delay and customers ordering beer and wine were told the drinks were on the house. Another flight saw free beer and wine offered to all passengers for a promotion as new products rolled out.

Alaska Airlines has also been consistently updating its fleet of planes, so even passengers riding in economy feel comfortable. Modern lighting and design meet expansive overhead bin space so few passengers are forced to gate check bags they wish to take on board.

Speaking of bags: Since 2010, Alaska Airlines upheld a policy of guaranteeing bags are at baggage claim 20 minutes after landing. If they’re not able to meet this standard, all passengers are offered $25 discounts for future flights or 2,500 award miles.
